Today I made that call

Today I've called the local stop smoking service, the trust I live within is crap but still, I now have to call the chemist to make an appointment.

The last trust I worked in gave nicotine replacement therapy free and you went to the hospital to see the advisor. This time I'm going to see my local pharmacist and pay a discount rate for my therapy of £6.50 I think she said, although I thought prescriptions were about that anyway, I know patches cost more than that unless you shop around. Wilco's for instance gives a great deal most of the time.

Okay chemist called, I'm going in tomorrow, as I have to leave for work in 20 minutes.

Wordless Wednesday

This is another 3d art piece by Dorothea Beer, guess I chose this for today's WW as it's a reprecentation of my dreams at the moment.
I know it's Wordless Wednesday, only I have to reference the artist don't I.

Hi I'm crazy

Yesterday morning I got an email that stated "I might go away", from lunch time he seemed to vanish off the face of the planet, on one of his websites there was a problem that at the time he may have been the only person who could fix it, so I sent a text and still there was no response at all. Over night the problem corrected itself.

In the meantime I begin to get more and more worried, although that shows how close we've been, by midnight I've taken a picture of my dog (I'm too scary at the moment, looking washed out, I don't want to break my camera), and sent a picture message as I only get delivery reports on picture messages.

I've just recently received the delivery report and it's crazy but the relief was so great, I quickly sent a message saying not to answer either as the problem was fixed and I now knew he was alive.

Pet insurance

I've just had the dogs insurance plan come through for this year, £247.20 !!!

That's more than my content insurance on the house, and he's not even covered as a true breed, it's crazy the way they word it ...

Breed:Lurcher
Cover Plan: Budget low Xs Mongrel dog

Not that I'm complaining about that, I mean it gives me a lower bill each year but how can they place him as a specific breed then say he's a mongrel, surely the breed should be mongrel as well.

Still given the options of other insurance companies this one is the best as even when he finally gets arthritis, common in greyhounds, they will still insure him unlike the others who will drop you at the end of the year as soon as the dog develops a long term illness.

Don't seem so tired

The last few days have seen me fighting sleep in the evening, tonight when I want to sleep I don't seem to be sleepy at all.

Tonight even my dog has deserted me and is sleeping downstairs with my housemate.

I'm currently sat here not even surfing blogs as my stats are stuck on blogmad, with a mug of hot chocolate wondering which will make me fatter, the hot chocolate, the coke or the sweets I seem to have accumulated in my room.

Comfort eating hasn't happened like this for 6 years, it's not even really a comfort, just something to occupy the hours.

The girls at work are taking me out on Saturday, South London it seems, I had to check who was going as I'm too scared to be the only white girl, not that I mind that in the right situations, just I've found where alcohol is concerned the situation can be very wrong. Also of course since I now know another non-drinker is coming out with us it'll be more fun. We've all been changing shifts to work it so none of are on the early Sunday.

So nice

Today at work whilst talking to a patient who knits we started talking about crochet, I thought if she knitted she'd crochet as well but, she doesn't although she would like to learn.

Well as I've previously posted I'm in the process of teaching myself so, I did a very bad thing (although you'll read this in wonder*) I printed the 35 page book 'Learn to Crochet' from Lion Brand Yarn (see link in craft freebies) and gave it to her. First thing she asked was if she had to give it back and her face lit up when I said it was hers to keep.

Five minutes later she came to the office and asked for me, took me to her room and presented me with a choice of two scarfs, one white and pink and the other black and white as you see to the left in this post.

She has worked very hard through this winter knitting all the staff scarfs, and one thing I noticed is that she was careful with the colours she choose for each of us. Although I was asked to pick the colours she offered were colours she sees me in all the time. The scarf shown is great, I know you can't see in this photo but it actually comes down to my knees and the knots on the tassels she's just got to teach me, they are very clever and unusual.

So I've come home and printed us some patterns to learn with, she asked for hats so hats I have found. All marked beginners.

* The NHS is so hard up we have been rationed to one packet of paper per week and ink for the printers we've been getting out of petty cash in the form of refills, as we order it and nothing comes. Of course both paper and ink are essential as we don't use pens anymore when writing nursing reports.

Technorati

It's not working.

My blog according to them even after I don't know how many pings hasn't been updated for 45 days now and gets older with each passing day. The settings are correct I've checked them almost as many times as I've pinged.

It constantly says I have no links to my blog yet when you actually check there's a list of 144 blogs that link to this one.

I contacted them 3 days ago and yes I know it's the weekend but it would've been first thing in the morning their time and all I've had is an automated reply. At the time I contacted them I couldn't even add a photo.

Oh wow

I've just opened outlook again, not realising it had been off and I really wish I hadn't. I've since been crying so much I'm hyperventilating, every time I get it under control it starts again.

My head feels like it's going to explode ... I don't care that it's a myth that nicotine helps calm, it's psychological and right now that psychological thought helps, one thing is for sure inhaling and exhaling whilst smoking helps control hyperventilation ... Who needs a paper bag ???

Saturday Photo Hunt

This weeks theme is silver and after thinking for ages what I could post I finally decided on my silver ladies pocket watch. My nan gave me £100 for no reason at all and told me to go buy something nice for myself, this is what I bought in an old pawn shop. The key isn't the original, but it was the only one we could find in the shop that fitted, one day I'll find a pretty one that matches better.
