So nice

Today at work whilst talking to a patient who knits we started talking about crochet, I thought if she knitted she'd crochet as well but, she doesn't although she would like to learn.

Well as I've previously posted I'm in the process of teaching myself so, I did a very bad thing (although you'll read this in wonder*) I printed the 35 page book 'Learn to Crochet' from Lion Brand Yarn (see link in craft freebies) and gave it to her. First thing she asked was if she had to give it back and her face lit up when I said it was hers to keep.

Five minutes later she came to the office and asked for me, took me to her room and presented me with a choice of two scarfs, one white and pink and the other black and white as you see to the left in this post.

She has worked very hard through this winter knitting all the staff scarfs, and one thing I noticed is that she was careful with the colours she choose for each of us. Although I was asked to pick the colours she offered were colours she sees me in all the time. The scarf shown is great, I know you can't see in this photo but it actually comes down to my knees and the knots on the tassels she's just got to teach me, they are very clever and unusual.

So I've come home and printed us some patterns to learn with, she asked for hats so hats I have found. All marked beginners.

* The NHS is so hard up we have been rationed to one packet of paper per week and ink for the printers we've been getting out of petty cash in the form of refills, as we order it and nothing comes. Of course both paper and ink are essential as we don't use pens anymore when writing nursing reports.
